Bahçeşehir Koleji öğrencileri, Alaşehir’in tarihi mirasını yerinde görmek ve Antik Philadelphia’nın kültürel zenginliğini keşfetmek amacıyla Philadelphia Ören Yeri’ni ziyaret etti. Öğrenciler, arkeologlar eşliğinde antik kentin tarihçesini dinleyerek bölgenin Roma ve Bizans dönemlerindeki önemini yerinde öğrenme fırsatı buldu.
Gezi kapsamında öğrenciler; Roma dönemine ait mimari unsurları inceleyerek bölgenin çok katmanlı tarihine tanıklık etti. Yetkililer, ziyaretin hem kültürel farkındalık oluşturduğunu hem de öğrencilerin tarih bilinci kazanmasına katkı sağladığını belirtti.
Öğrencilere, Philadelphia’nın Lidya Krallığı’ndan Cumhuriyet dönemine uzanan tarihsel süreçteki yeri ve önemi hakkında bilgilendirme yapıldı. Öğrenciler, bölgenin arkeolojik değerlerinin korunmasının neden hayati olduğunu da yerinde gözlemleme şansı yakaladı.
Ziyaret sonunda Bahçeşehir Koleji öğretmenleri, öğrencilerin bu tür eğitim gezileri sayesinde tarihsel mekanları sadece kitaplardan değil, yerinde görerek öğrenmelerinin büyük katkı sağladığını vurguladı. Alaşehir Philadelphia Ören Yeri yetkilileri ise öğrencilerin ilgisinden memnun olduklarını belirterek, genç kuşakların tarihi ve kültürel mirasa sahip çıkmasının önemine dikkat çekti.

Bahçeşehir College Students Explore the Ancient City of Philadelphia in Alaşehir
Students from Bahçeşehir College visited the Philadelphia Archaeological Site in Alaşehir to explore the region’s historical heritage and learn about the ancient city’s cultural significance. Guided by experts, the students had the opportunity to discover the history of Philadelphia and its importance during the Roman and Byzantine periods.
During the visit, students examined the remains of the St. Jean Church, sections of ancient fortification walls, and various architectural elements from the Roman era, gaining firsthand insight into the multi-layered history of the site. Officials noted that the trip helped raise cultural awareness and contributed to the students’ understanding of historical preservation.
Welcomed by representatives from the Alaşehir Municipality and local museum authorities, the students received detailed information about the historical development of Philadelphia, from the Lydian Kingdom to the Republican era. They also observed the importance of protecting archaeological heritage on-site.
At the end of the visit, teachers from Bahçeşehir College emphasized the educational value of such field trips, noting that experiencing historical places in person provides a deeper learning experience than textbooks alone. Representatives from the Philadelphia Archaeological Site expressed their satisfaction with the students’ interest and highlighted the importance of young generations engaging with cultural and historical heritage.
